Franz Fuerst is Professor of Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of Cambridge and Fellow/Director of Studies at Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
His research focuses on the financial and economic analysis of sustainable real estate investments, health and well-being in the built environment, and spatial economics. He applies econometric methods to large datasets to understand how the built environment shapes economic outcomes through various channels including energy consumption, occupant health, and environmental risks.
Prior to academia, Professor Fuerst worked at BNP Paribas Real Estate, where he was responsible for market research, forecasting, and consultancy services for commercial real estate portfolio transactions. He serves as Co-Editor of Spatial Economic Analysis and holds fellowships at the Academy of Social Sciences, the J.M. Keynes Fund, and the Cambridge University Land Society.

Research Approach
